Atlanta office Managing Partner Eric Schroeder was quoted at length May 7 in the Fulton County Daily Report regarding when and how large law firms will reopen their offices in the metro area. Although Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp lifted the statewide shelter-in-place order recently, law firm leaders still say the public health risk is too great and there isn’t an immediate need to reopen, since remote working has gone well. “The general guiding principle is everyone’s safety. Safety is paramount,” said Schroeder, who noted that bringing lawyers and staff back to the local office probably won’t happen until mid-May at the earliest, “and even that’s fluid. When we do, it will be largely voluntary. I don’t see a mandatory or full return to the office happening until much later in the year.”
