London Managing Partner Segun Osuntokun provided his thoughts Feb. 14 to The Sunday Times concerning progress the city of London has made on diversity. The piece highlights Segun’s open letter first published by The Lawyer magazine in July 2020. He told The Sunday Times about his decision to speak out last year, following the Black Lives Matter protests and conversations with his family. He outlined his belief that firms should make “hard, data-driven commitments” to disclose diversity statistics and embrace “the public accountability that goes with it.” He concluded, “The unfortunate events last year did create a momentum… I’m not saying that it’s not a huge challenge. But I think there is a certain urgency now.”
