Two Partners from Colorado Offices Named to 5280 Magazine’s Top Lawyers 2021 List

BCLP Partners Steve Smith and Sarah Hartley have been named to 5280 magazine’s Denver Top Lawyers 2021 list for their sports and entertainment practices. The annual Top Lawyers list honors lawyers in 50 practice areas selected after extensive peer reviews and interviews across the seven-county Denver metro area.

Managing partner of BCLP’s Colorado Springs office, Smith focuses his practice on sports law. This includes naming rights, sponsorships, licensing agreements, stadium operations, television and media contracts, and representation of leagues and National Governing Bodies (NGBs). He has been recognized by the Sports Business Journal as one of the leading sports attorneys in the U.S. as well as been named as a “Leader in His Field” for sports law by Chambers USA since 2011, and featured by Who's Who Legal, in sports and entertainment law, from 2016–2020.

Hartley is a partner in BCLP’s Boulder office practicing in the Commercial Litigation and Antitrust Groups. She is the leader of the firm’s Higher Education Refund Class Action Rapid Response Team, the Outdoor Industry Team and a member of the Sports & Entertainment Group. Hartley has worked with sports clients in the Olympic movement, professional sports and collegiate sports, and is regularly consulted on Safe Sport matters, governance and ethical issues. Her practice includes representing NGBs in connection with investigations and disciplinary proceedings involving allegations of sexual misconduct and physical abuse, governance issues, sponsorships and employment agreements.
