Biography

Aileen Hunter is a trial attorney who represents Fortune 500 companies in both state and federal courts. Aileen leads the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team in the Irvine office. She regularly handles business disputes including claims involving unfair competition, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, fraud, real estate disputes, misappropriation of trade secrets, and employment disputes. Aileen has first chaired bench and jury trials, successfully argued dispositive motions at the trial court level, and argued before the California Court of Appeal.

Aileen attended the University of San Diego School of Law where she graduated cum laude and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. She holds an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley where she graduated magna cum laude. She also studied at the Institute of International and Comparative Law in Dublin, Ireland.

  • Obtained unanimous jury verdict for the defense in invasion of privacy lawsuit.
  • Obtained complete nonsuit of breach of fiduciary duty claims against officers of a publicly traded company in a complex securities fraud trial.
  • Obtained complete nonsuit of unfair competition claim at bench trial.
  • Obtained preliminary injunction in high-profile trade secrets dispute involving former officer following the officer’s departure to form competing business.
  • Obtained summary judgment for financial institution in judicial foreclosure action addressing the novel issue of a servicer’s right to foreclose, which was affirmed on appeal.
  • Represented avionics manufacturer in complex litigation following crash of an amateur-built experimental aircraft.
  • Defended an engineering firm and its officers in a trade secret/unfair competition action filed by a competing engineering firm.
  • Defended an energy drink company and its officers in an unfair competition and trade dress infringement suit.
  • Defended manufacturers of recordable media in a business tort lawsuit involving wire fraud and money laundering.
  • Litigated an international trademark dispute for the largest chain of multisite weight loss clinics in the United States before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and in federal court.
  • Co-author of the Respondents’ brief in the case before the United States Supreme Court addressing the “nerve center” test for a corporation’s principal place of business under 28 U.S.C. §1332. Hertz Corp. v. Friend, 599 U.S. 77 (2010).
