Biography

Caleb Mathena is a commercial litigator in BCLP's Business & Commercial Disputes and Class Actions & Mass Torts practice groups. He represents companies, shareholders, directors, and business owners in high-stakes disputes involving corporate governance, breach of fiduciary duty, misappropriation of trade secrets, shareholder conflicts, securities-related claims, and other complex commercial matters. He also maintains an active public-law practice, representing private and public-sector clients in matters involving constitutional rights, property rights, government benefits, and other issues arising from government action.

A trial-tested advocate, Caleb has tried multiple cases to verdict, successfully argued numerous dispositive motions, and represented clients in other critical proceedings in state and federal courts. His courtroom experience informs a strategic and results-oriented approach to litigation, helping clients achieve favorable outcomes through motion practice, settlement, or trial.

Caleb earned his J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, where he served as a managing editor of the UCLA Law Review and participated in the First Amendment Amicus Clinic taught by Professor Eugene Volokh. While at UCLA, Caleb also externed for Judge Robert S. Lasnik of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington and prosecuted misdemeanors as a Rule 9 legal intern with the King County Prosecutor’s Office.

Before law school, Caleb graduated summa cum laude from Whitworth University where he helped lead the Pirates’ NCAA D-III football team to their first playoff appearance in nine years as a starting member of the team’s nationally ranked defense.
