Nick Scholz
Biography
Nick is an Associate in the firm's Tax and Private Client group and a member of the Fiduciary Litigation Team, where he counsels clients on complex trust and estate matters and represents them when disputes over trust and estate administration arise.
Nick Scholz partners with individuals, families, and business owners to craft comprehensive estate plans and business succession strategies tailored to their unique goals. His work spans sophisticated estate planning, trust and estate administration, and business succession, and he brings hands-on experience in fiduciary litigation to every engagement. Nick's guiding philosophy is simple: plan proactively so clients avoid headaches later, and never lose sight of what the client is actually trying to achieve.
Nick comes from a family with four generations of attorneys, and that legacy instilled in him a lifelong passion for the law and for making a meaningful difference in clients' lives from an early age. Working one-on-one with individuals and families allows him to fulfill that goal every day. He has built a reputation as a highly responsive and attentive attorney, and clients trust that he is on top of their matter and will assemble the best plan possible.
He holds a J.D. from Washington University School of Law, where he served on the Law Review and earned two CALI Excellence for the Future Awards, recognizing the top grade in both Trade Dress & Design Law and the Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property Law Clinic. Nick also helped organize the law school's annual Musical Showcase, a talent show highlighting students' musical abilities. Before law school, he earned a Bachelor of Music from the DePaul University School of Music. Nick is licensed to practice in both Missouri and Illinois.
Music remains central to Nick's life outside of work — he is a classically trained saxophonist and an avid guitarist who regularly performs with groups throughout the St. Louis area. That background gives him a genuine affinity for serving musicians, artists, and business owners in the music industry, along with fellow music lovers, as they plan for their families' and businesses' futures. When he isn't playing music, Nick can often be found in the kitchen, where Italian and Italian-American cooking is his specialty.
