Biography

Shehmin Awan is a member of the firm’s M&A and Corporate Finance practice group. 

Prior to joining the firm, Shehmin served as a law clerk for various organizations in the St. Louis community, including the Missouri chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, and the Migrant and Immigrant Community Action Project. Shehmin is currently the Vice President of the St. Louis chapter of the Muslim Women’s Professional Network, a nonprofit organization that seeks to empower and connect Muslim women, with a focus on professional development and community engagement.

Shehmin earned her J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 2020, and received a B.A. with honors in political science and international studies from Maryville University. As a clinical intern for the Washington University School of Law Immigration Clinic, she helped prepare clients for asylum interviews and defensive asylum hearings. She also served as an Executive Notes Editor for the Washington University Global Studies Law Review and has a published note in the same journal.
