Partner Alexis Early shared her insights with Bloomberg Law and Associated Press about a federal judge in New York ruling that companies that paid tariffs struck down by the Supreme Court in February are due refunds.

Alexis told AP that the system was “not designed for a mass refund,” noting to Bloomberg Law that the Customs and Boarder Protection must act as the trade court’s order firmly states that importers who paid invalidated tariffs are owed refunds.

“What the court has wisely done here is said, ‘No matter what stage of the process your Customs entry are in, the tariffs you paid were invalidated, and you should get your money back,’” Early said to Bloomberg.
