BCLP advised WiredScore, the leading global certification body for digital connectivity and smart building performance, on its sale to Meter, Inc., a San Francisco–based provider of internet infrastructure for enterprises and commercial buildings. The combination of the two businesses is expected to further advance the international adoption of best practices in digital building performance that increasingly differentiates modern buildings and supports premium rental values for landlords.

Acting alongside US lead counsel Fenwick & West, BCLP advised on non‑US aspects of the transaction. Meter was represented by Cooley on both sides of the Atlantic.

The BCLP team was led by Corporate Real Estate & Funds partner John Bennett and Tax, Employee Benefits and Private Client partner David Dennison.

John Bennett said: “WiredScore have made a pivotal difference to the real estate sector by defining the standards for, and helping tenants and others evaluate, a building’s digital infrastructure. BCLP are delighted to have supported them on their journey and in establishing this new partnership.”

William Newton, CEO of WiredScore, said: “Thank you BCLP. Your exemplary real estate sector connection, support and delivery has helped WiredScore get to this point.”
