Biography

  • Commercial real estate lawyer advising international and domestic developers and investors, corporate occupiers, banks and public sector bodies.
  • Advises developers on development and urban regeneration schemes and large office pre-let transactions. Leads large multi-disciplinary teams advising throughout the development cycle.
  • Has advised Argent for the past 10 years on the 67 acre redevelopment of King’s Cross. Has advised on development agreements for the development of office, residential and retail space and led the BCLP team advising on the office pre-lets at King’s Cross totalling in excess of 2 million square feet.
  • Acts for a number of lenders and borrowers in relation to development financing.
  • Recognised by Legal 500 UK 2024 as a leading individual for Real Estate development work. 
  • Member of the Investment Property Forum and the British Council for Offices.

Experience

  • King’s Cross Central Limited Partnership and Argent on the regeneration of King’s Cross. Chris leads the BCLP team advising KCCLP and Argent on the project. Chris has advised on development agreements for the development of office, residential and retail space and pre-lets of the new office buildings (in excess of 2 million square feet) including the pre-lets of 611,000 square feet to Facebook and pre-lets of buildings at the scheme to Google, Universal Music and Havas Media. Chris acted for KCCLP on the sale of a 2.4 acre site to Google for construction of Google’s new HQ and continues to advise on the ongoing development of this site.
  • Hermes on the regeneration of Paradise Circus in Birmingham, a mixed use city-centre regeneration scheme comprising ten new office, retail and residential buildings. Chris has advised on the development agreements for drawdown of development plots, estate structuring and the office and retail pre-lets at the scheme including the pre-let to PWC of the first building to be constructed at the scheme.
  • Silvertown Homes on its joint venture with Transport for London for the phased development of 5,000 homes at Thameside West in East London.
  • Argent Related on a strategic development agreement with Haringey Council for the phased development of 1,000 homes at Tottenham Hale.
  • R&F/CC Land on the development of its phased residential led scheme at One Thames City in Nine Elms.
  • WR Berkley on the development of The Scalpel in the City of London including advising on office pre-let agreements, development constraints and rights of light.
  • An international law firm on the pre-let of 200,000 square feet of office space in a new City of London tower.
  • A local authority on the development of its new town hall and office premises.
