Biography

Laura is the global co-leader of the firm’s Hotels & Hospitality sector. She focuses on hotel acquisitions and disposals, development, financing and leasing. She also advises clients on hotel branding and management agreements, acting for both hotel developers/owners and international operators. She acts for a number of lenders (senior and mezzanine) and has advised on both investment and development finance for hotel and other asset classes.

Laura is ranked as a “Leading Individual” in Legal 500 and is also ranked in Chambers and Partners for hospitality & leisure matters.

Laura was part of the BCLP team advising Grange Hotels on the sale of four of its high-end hotels for circa £1 billion. This was one of the largest UK hotel deals on record.

Experience

  • Goldman Sachs on the acquisition of Fosun Tourist Group’s two lifestyle brands Casa Cook and Cook’s Club. This includes 16 franchised hotels across prime sun and beach locations in the Mediterranean and Red Sea.
  • Tristan Capital Partners on their acquisition, joint venture and management arrangements in relation to the Point A hotel portfolio from Wellcome Trust and Queensway for circa. £420 million. The portfolio comprises 1,521 rooms across 10 operational hotels in the UK and Ireland.
  • Cerberus Capital Management on Project Horizon - the c.£185m corporate sale of its UK hotel portfolio of 17 Holiday Inn and Crown Plaza branded hotels to Marathon Asset Management.
  • Grange Hotels on the sale of four high end central London hotels to Queensgate Investments. This is one of the UK’s largest hotel transactions on record, with a sale price of c.£1bn.
  • Cerberus Capital Management on the corporate sale of their innovative 215-key Qbic hotel in Manchester, which opened in May 2021, to Tristan Capital Partners.
  • UOL in relation to the development of 150 Bishopsgate into a 5 star luxury hotel with private residences, F&B facilities and a ballroom in the City of London, under the ‘Pan Pacific’ brand.
  • Concierge 3 Limited on the purchase and forward funding arrangements for a hotel development site at North Wharf Gardens in Paddington, London. The development is let to Premier Inn and StacyCity.
  • EquityBridge Asset Management on the c.£125m development and financing of a mini-skyscraper, containing two separate hotels (a Curio and Adagio) in Stratford, London.
