Biography
Melanie Schumann is an Associate at BCLP and a member of the Restructuring & Insolvency practice group in Frankfurt. She advises and represents national and international clients in the area of insolvency and restructuring law, including distressed M&A. This includes advising companies and its management, shareholders, lender, creditors, as well as debtors and investors on the development and implementation of strategies for restructuring and reorganization in and outside of insolvency proceedings.
Furthermore, Melanie supports managing directors in application for insolvency, in formal insolvency proceedings and in self-administration proceedings. Her practice also covers advising insolvency administrations in connection with insolvency proceedings.
At least, she has more than two years of relevant finance experience, where she advised national and international lender and borrowers on cross boarding real estate, acquisition and structured finance transactions.

- Advised Tishman Speyer, a global real estate developer and investor, on its acquisition of a 17,600 square meter, partially completed building at Michaelkirchstraße 22-23 in Berlin-Mitte. Previously developed by Development Partner GmbH, the project, took place as part of an insolvency plan procedure in close coordination with the insolvency administrator, attorney Kreplin from the law firm KKN, and the creditors.
- Advised JSE-listed REIT Burstone on its strategic partnership with Blackstone, involving the sale to Blackstone of an 80% stake in Burstone’s €1bn+ pan-European logistics portfolio held through Luxembourg, with Burstone retaining a 20% stake and continuing to manage the portfolio. The strategic partnership will look to aggregate further industrial and logistics properties across Burstone’s core European markets.
