Biography

Daisy Reeves, a long-standing partner since 2012, is BCLP’s inaugural Global Inclusion & Diversity Client Relationship Partner. She sits at the intersection of many diversity strands including LGBTQ*, Gender, Disability and Mental Health, working with other experts, clients and communities in helping to develop best, and next, practice in these spaces.

Daisy is a known game-changer in the field of Inclusion & Diversity, both within the legal industry and more widely. Recently, Daisy has been ranked as the 5thmost influential LGBTQ* Executive in the world in the 2021 OUTstanding LGBTQ* Executives Role Models List, which features C-suite and business leaders worldwide for her efforts in making the global workplace more welcoming for LGBTQ* populations.

For International Women’s Day 2021, Daisy spoke at the SHE global Gender conference, focusing on the intersection between Gender, LGBTQ* and Mental Health. Other pre-eminent speakers included former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Justin Trudeau, the prime minister of Canada.

Daisy has also sat as a judge at the British LGBT Awards and the global Pink News Awards, and has won or been shortlisted for, various other awards including the Abercrombie & Fitch Diversity Champion Award at the European Diversity Awards.

In 2020, under Daisy’s stewardship, BCLP was recognised by global LGBTQ* charity Stonewall as a Top Global Employer. This global index showcases the best international employers for LGBTQ* populations and featured only 17 organisations worldwide in 2020. Within the UK, as BCLP’s LGBTQ* Co-Champion, in 2019 Daisy shepherded BCLP to its No. 2 ranking in Stonewall’s cross-sector Workplace Equality Index and as a Stonewall Top Trans Employer. Daisy is also a founding ambassador of international ‘LBTQWomen’, addressing the specific challenges faced by lesbian, bi, trans and queer women in the global LBTQ* and Gender spaces.

She spearheaded the award-winning UK student-focused LGBTQ* initiatives ‘DiversCity’ and ‘AuthentiCity’, which have helped to inspire more than 2,000 LGBTQ* students. Daisy also helped initiate a first-of-its-kind nationwide mentoring programme for the legal profession with Stonewall, SRA and The Law Society to help smaller UK law firms on their LGBTQ* journey.

Daisy also noticed that junior LGBTQ* professionals did not seem to be as well represented as their more senior colleagues. Out of that, the group ‘Wave’ was eventually born, to be led by its target populations, – a brand-new LGBTQ* network offering a platform for the career progression of junior to mid-level professionals with BCLP, BNY Mellon, Deloitte, AIG, Barclays and Google as co-founders.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Daisy has explored the intersectionality between Mental Health, high-impact work environments and inclusion, including her own experience in this space. Daisy was a keynote speaker at one of the largest global mental health corporate events, the 2020 ‘MAD Summit’, and she has helped develop thought leadership around the importance of psychological safety and inclusive leadership within the corporate workplace, which has included engaging with a broad range of global organisations to increase awareness in this area and across the wider inclusion landscape.

Daisy’s impact on changing societal views is perhaps best exemplified by the recent book ‘Women who Dared to Break all the Rules’ being dedicated to her.

Daisy is a contributing author to Financial Regulation: Emerging Themes in 2022 – an extensive collection of articles around the themes of Sustainability & ESG; Talent & People and I&D; Regulatory Risk & Enforcement; Governance; Technology; and Changing Markets.
