Biography

Lydia is experienced in town and country planning law, advising and advocating for clients across a range of sectors including residential, mixed use, retirement living and life sciences schemes. Lydia's experience includes negotiating planning and infrastructure agreements with local authorities, advising on planning applications and acting in relation to planning appeals and court challenges. Lydia also provides planning advice on real estate and corporate transactions.

Experience

  • Drafting and negotiating section 106 agreements and deeds of variation for a wide range of developments across England from small residential developments to large mixed use schemes, including provisions securing affordable housing and viability review mechanisms
  • Acting in relation to an appeal against a refusal to grant planning permission for a life sciences development in Cambridge
  • Acting in relation to a successful appeal against the refusal to grant planning permission for a large residential development in Kent, including negotiating section 106 agreements with the local planning authority in order to overcome the reasons for refusal
  • Providing ongoing advice in relation to a major residential development in South London, including advising on variations to the master plan, securing reserved matters approval on appeal and negotiating variations to the existing section 106 agreement
  • Providing specialist advice on risks associated with acquisitions of listed buildings
  • Representing a client in relation to the A428 Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet Roundabout Development Consent Order before the Examining Authority
