Biography
Shen is a Senior Associate in the Tax Team in BCLP’s London office. He has broad experience across all areas of corporate taxation, with particular expertise in real estate tax.
He advises on the tax aspects of a wide range of real estate transactions, including asset and share acquisitions and disposals, financings, lettings and ongoing asset management matters. His experience includes advising on VAT, capital allowances, stamp duty land tax and the construction industry scheme.
Shen acts for a diverse client base of property owners and occupiers across the UK property sector, advising on investments in offices, retail, logistics, data centres, major infrastructure projects, student accommodation and affordable housing.

- Advised Northwood Investors on the tax aspects of its acquisitions and development financing of three Build-to-Rent sites in Glasgow, Sheffield, and Cardiff, as part of its joint venture platform with developer Platform.
- Advised Sixth Street’s’ logistics joint venture platform with Copley Point Capital on the tax aspects of its direct and indirect acquisitions and associated financing of 11 properties.
- Advised Cascade Infrastructure Limited, a joint venture established by the international contractor STRABAG and global infrastructure investor Equitix together with project partner GLIL Infrastructure, on the VAT aspects of the cutting-edge £2.9bn Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme (the HARP Project).
- Advised Edge on the tax aspects of its agreement for lease with AI company, ServiceNow, securing the first tenant at the £230 million EDGE London Bridge office development.
- Advised WoolOvers Ltd on the tax aspects of its successful acquisition of Hotter Shoes in a pre-pack administration deal.
- Advised The Oxford Science Park on the tax aspects of its acquisition of the 31,581 sq ft Hinshelwood Building to provide additional space at the Park.
- Advised the Henley Investments and Sixth Street JV on the tax aspects of its acquisition of Martineau Place, a large shopping centre in central Birmingham.
